Plant  care  in  the  Green  house

Well  this  week  certainly feels  like  spring  coming  to  summer  and  with  the  RHS   informing  us  that  the  flowering  season  will  be  prolonged  this  year   due  to  this  cold   snap  we  had.
It is better to be prepared for a warm spring by  this  I  mean  to  protect all  your  seedling  that  should  be  sprouting  now in  your  green  house  from  the  fierce  rays  of  the  sun .
This can be achieved by :-

(a)    putting  any  shading  material  on  your  green  house  glass .Whether  its  green  or  blinds.  This  will  reduce  the  intensity  of  the  heat  with  in   greenhouse . You  can  either  use  a   netting   like  the  one  in  picture  or  green  house  wash  paints  

 

(b)   set  a  method  by  watering  in  the  the  evening  when  the  sun  comes down –  this  way  you  wont  waste  water  and  also  the  plants  can  drink  it  in  before  it  evaporates   in  the  mid day  sun  

• (c)  In  cases  of  tomatoes  don’t  water  over  head   but  in  the  pots  this  cause  if  there  any  fungi  like  blight  still  in  the  soil    it  wont  splash  on  to leaves.  Also  the  droplets   can  act  as  tiny  lenses   and  cause  leaf  scorch  
• (d)  keep  the  Green house  well  ventilated  this  will  prevent  any    fungus  from  attacking  your  seedling  
• (e)  and  finally  should  the  plants  start  to  tilt  this  is  not  a  disease  but  simply  the  plant  is  following  the  sun   – simply  remedied  by   turning  the  plant  around .                                                                     

 

                                            My Spring Projects

On  Wednesday  I  got  to  plant  some  shrubs  and  plants  that  My  client  brought.
As I do general garden Maintenance I  do   planting  and  growing  as  well and  this  week  I  had  to  plant  a  Skimmia ,Photinia, and  Eu0nymus
If you want plants for shade then these shrubs which I going to describe are ideal.
In between there is a Photinia red robin to add that contrast

And in the other corner is a Elaeagnus

Another variegated leaf plant comes in small compact forms to large bush shrubs
